The 80,000-seat Lusail Stadium will embody Qatar’s ambition and its passion for sharing Arab culture with the world.
The design of this magnificent stadium is inspired by the interplay of light and shadow that characterises the fanar lantern. Its shape and façade echo the intricate decorative motifs on bowls, vessels and other art pieces found across the Arab and Islamic world during the rise of civilisation in the region.
The venue will become the centrepiece of Lusail City – a newly built, state-of-the-art metropolis where the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ will both open and conclude. Lusail Stadium will write a new page in Qatar’s history, while paying homage to the rich past of the country and region.
